Mary-Elizabeth Brown is an award-winning concert violinist, educator and entrepreneur. As a performer, she has played concerts around the world, and is known for her “impeccable precision” (Le Devoir, Montreal) and her “ability to unfold a bittersweet magic” (Rhein Main Presse, Germany). Founder and director of the AVIVA Young Artists program – one of the world’s first online music education programs – she was one of the youngest in history to be named “Teacher of Distinction” for lifetime achievement in pedagogy by the Royal Conservatory of Music. In late 2022, she unveiled the design of a violin that could be made for less than $10 using a 3D printer, making music education accessible in a whole new way. Her work has been featured in most major media outlets, such as the BBC, NPR’s “Science Friday,” PC Mag, The Strad and the Hong Kong Economic Times.
She holds a doctorate from the University of Montreal, where she was a Schmeelk Scholar, as well as graduate certificates in managerial finance (London School of Economics) and school management and leadership (Harvard). She lives in Montreal where she enjoys balancing her work in music and entrepreneurship with the joys of being a mom.
