Dare to Deliver – combining a data-driven approach and motivational factors to get your team to succeed
Delivery is always at the forefront of executives’ minds. How can we move faster? How can we deliver more? Zeroing in at the team level, engineering managers are then tasked with turning those questions into actions: how do we even measure how fast we are going? Once we have that baseline, how can we move the needle to increase the team’s output? There are several factors that can influence a team’s delivery. In this talk, we will explore velocity with a multi-dimensional approach: gathering data from developer tools, optimally organizing Agile ceremonies within a sprint, and providing shorter- and longer-term goals to the team as motivation. We also propose daring to have “difficult” conversations at the team and individual level, and harnessing customer feedback to close the loop with the team on the impact of their delivery. You’ll leave with concrete tools for measuring your team’s delivery, and inspiring them to give their best to achieve your company’s goals.
